In the 2016/17 season, by invitation from the club, Miguel Cardoso joined the technical team of Paulo Fonseca, who recently joined Shakhtar Donetsk, to work as assistant coach.
His experience and knowledge of the club due to the excellent work done both in B team and in the Youth Teams, formed a precious contribution for Shakhtar Donetsk to have another successful year, with the conquest of the championship and the Ukranian Cup.
