RIO AVE FC
After a long and consolidated career experience of more than 20 years in Portugal and abroad, Rio Ave FC hired Miguel Cardoso as head coach for the 2017/2018 season.
Since the very beginning of the season, Miguel Cardoso's identity brought early results on and off the pitch. He was selected as "Manager of the month" by Liga NOS in August and, later, in December.
During the entire 2017/2018 season, Rio Ave FC was praised for its consistent game quality against any opponent. This quality led to several notable achievements at Rio Ave:
- 5th place in the Liga NOS table
- qualifying for Europa League
- highest number of points in Rio Ave's history: 51
Best start ever of Rio Ave in the league (10 points – 4th Round)
Best classification ever, reaching 5th position for the 1st time since 1981/1982
